Brief greetings

Hello, readers of this burgeoning blog!

My name is Isabel Theresa, I'm eighteen and I have been studying Law since May (2013).

Well, I was born in Brazil, have lived most of my life in its northeast, in a city called Recife, where I studied till the end of my middle school, which was a military school.

As life changes a lot, sometimes we have to be open to changes. So, I decided to move to another state in order to finish my high school studies in the Brazil's best public federal school (Coluni). This school is located in a wee little city, called Vicosa, in the state of Minas Gerais, southeast of Brazil. I'm still living in Vicosa, but studying Law at university.

In January, this year, I went to the USA and spent twenty one days in Washington, D.C., and Seattle, WA, through a program sponsored by the US Department of State and American Embassy, called Youth Ambassadors Program. Its name speaks for itself... I went there in a diplomatic mission to present and represent my country.

Now, you may be thinking: why this brazilian girl is writing in English? Her mother language is Portuguese!

Well, here is the reason: I love English and all things related to it. My first contact with this marvelous, beautiful, fancy and fascinating language happened in 2005 when I was 10 and had started my studies at a military school. Here in Brazil, if you wish to learn a language you have to pay for a private course. By this period, I didn't have money to pay for an English course. So I developed a rigid method of self study.

The first time I entered in a regular English course, in 2010, I did a placement test and imagine what??? I was at the advanced level! Yes, I rock! Hahaha

Thenceforward, I am always trying to deal with this language as much as I can, in order not to forget things I learned and to evolve more and more.

I also started studying French and German this year. French, in my opinion, is quite easy! But German... It is not that monster to learn haha the difficulty is just the grammatical structure, once you understand, everything gets easy, logic, beautiful and fascinating!

You may have noticed that I love languages and, for me, the process of discovering a new world of meanings, cultural specificities, points of view and histories, not only the mechanical process of repeating words and grammar, makes me delighted.

That's why I decided to create this blog: to exercise my English, to share experiences and tips, to talk about places and traveling, ... to exercise my French and German skills asap, and also to write some of my mind's wanderings!

That's enough for now! Thanks for reading!

Om Shiva!
